2026 Excise License Update for Tourist Service Providers – Deadline & Requirements

The decision regarding the issuance of excise licenses for the year 2026 is hereby informed as follows:

Issuance of Liquor License for 2026 (3)

1. The Excise Department will issue liquor licenses for the year 2026 until 30 March 2026 to tourist service providers who have obtained a valid registration or license issued by the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority for the years 2024 or 2025. (The list of relevant institutions is attached herewith.)
2. The renewal of licenses of the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority for the year 2025 should be completed on or before 30 March 2026. The Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority will issue recommendations for the future period to the Excise Department only for tourist establishments that have renewed their licenses accordingly.
3. The Excise Department further informs all tourist service providers to obtain the license for the year 2026 issued by the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority, along with the excise recommendation, on or before 30 March 2026
